- Your exam will be on The Giver. The exam will include 80 multiple choice questions from the novel, 20 matching vocabulary questions, and ones essay questions. The vocabulary words are from chapters 1-4 and chapters 7-11. The words and definitions are posted under the file cabinet. Make sure to complete and study the study guide I gave you in class this week for the exam.
- Make sure you are keeping up with your study guide questions for the novel. I will take these up on the day of the exam. Make sure you answer all questions in complete sentences.

- The four square vocabulary for words from chapter 7-11 will be due on Friday, NOT TOMORROW, due to PASS testing. Make sure to come to school prepared for PASS testing tomorrow, and I will collect the 4-square on Friday.
- We will also have a quiz on chapters 7-11 this Friday.The quiz will include vocabulary from chapters 7-11. The words and definitions have been posted under the file cabinet.
- Study for your quiz on chapters 1-4 of The Giver. The quiz will include vocabulary, and the vocabulary has been posted under the file cabinet.
- Write sentences with your vocabulary words from chapter 1-4 of The Giver. Sentences must be compound or complex. You will not receive credit if your sentences are not formatted correctly.
- You will have a quiz this Wednesday on chapters 1-4 of The Giver. The quiz will include the vocabulary words.
- We will not have homework next week due to testing. Please take some time to review the documents posted under the file cabinet (common writing mistakes, transitions, test taking strategies) to prepare for the SC Ready test. This is all review, but it would be helpful to go over it, since much of it was discussed at the beginning of the school year. The ELA portions of the test will be next Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Your non-fiction unit test is tomorrow. The study guide is posted under the file cabinet.
- The non-fiction unit test has been postponed until next Tuesday, April 19th.
- You will have an open notes quiz on subject verb agreement this Wednesday, April 13th.
- Your nonfiction unit test will be this Friday, April 15th.
- Complete/make corrections to the author's point of view handout that we went over at the end of class today. Make sure you state the author's view point in the way that we discussed in class today.
- Finish the author's purpose practice handout that you started at the end of class today. The notes on author's purpose are posted under the file cabinet. You do not need to do the last part of the handout where it says, "Fast Finishers."
- Review your notes on subject verb agreement that we took in class today. Later this week you will have graded practice on these notes.
- Final drafts of The Outsiders Final Portfolio project are due tomorrow. Make sure you have everything ready to turn in at the beginning of class.
- Outsiders Day will be on Wednesday, March 23rd.
- The Outsiders final project (portfolio) will be due on Thursday, March 24th. This assignment will count as a major grade on the 4th nine weeks grading period.
- You will have your Outsiders unit test tomorrow. You should study the study guide questions from each chapter and the study guide for the unit that you got in class last week. Also, make sure to study the figurative language terms and practice. Study guides and other documents you will need to study for the test are posted under the file cabinet.
- The Outsiders movie permission forms are due by tomorrow. A copy of the permission form is posted under the file cabinet.
- Q3 Reading RIOT is due tomorrow. This assignment is your last major grade of the nine weeks. It will be ten points off for every day it is turned in late. The instructions and rubric for this assignment are posted under the file cabinet.
- Outsiders unit test on Friday, March 11th. Make sure to study and prepare for this test.
- No written homework tonight, but make sure you know that we will have a reading quiz on chapters 7-8 this Friday. We will be reviewing for this quiz in class this week, but you should also be studying at home this week.
- The symbolism poem for The Outsiders is due at the beginning of class tomorrow. The instructions and the rubric are posted under the file cabinet. Most of the poem should have been done in class today, but finish what you did not get done for homework tonight. Paragraphs can be typed or handwritten.
- Complete the preposition practice handout you got at the end of class today.
- Bring in pictures (printed or drawn) to represent each of your vocabulary words from chapters 5-9. The words are posted in the file cabinet. Make sure to use a different pictures than the examples I gave you in the powerpoint today.

- Study for you quiz tomorrow on chapters 3-4 in The Outsiders. The quiz will also include the vocabulary words from those chapters and predicate nominative and predicate adjectives.
- Make sure to choose your Q3 Reading RIOT book by this Friday. You should have the book with you in class everyday.
- Complete 4 square vocabulary for your Outsiders chapter 3-4 list words. The four square should include the word, the part of speech, the definition, a picture or symbol, and use the word in a sentence.
- You will have a quiz on Wednesday on chapters 3-4, the vocabulary words, and predicate nominative and predicate adjectives.
- Complete the chapters 3-4 vocabulary practice handout if you did not finish it in class today.
- Your quiz on chapters 1-2 of The Outsiders has been postponed until Friday, January 22nd.
- Complete the predicate nominative and predicate adjective practice handout.
- Write compound or complex sentences using your Outsiders vocabulary list 1.
- You will have a quiz on the prezi on The Outsiders, vocabulary list 1, and chapters 1-2 of the novel next Wednesday, January 20th.
- Reading RIOT is due tomorrow. This is your last major grade of the 2nd nine weeks. Instructions and the rubric are posted under the file cabinet.
- The Outsiders webquest is due on Friday. This will count as a major grade, and will go on your 3rd nine weeks grading period. The webquest document is posted under this file cabinet.
- ACC movie permission forms are due tomorrow. I must have a signed permission form in order for you to watch the movie. Students who don't have a signed permission form will be given an alternate assignment to do in another room.
- Study for your ACC unit test tomorrow. The test will cover the entire play, the Charles Dickens background information, and Act 2 vocabulary words.
- Bring in your signed movie permission form for ACC by Tuesday, December 15th at the latest.
- We will begin acting out scenes from Act 2 with your groups tomorrow. Make sure your group is prepared to act out your scene. Also, don't forget to bring in your prop if you haven't already brought one. The rubric and group planning sheet are posted under the file cabinet if you need another copy. See homework below for link to Act 2 if you want print out your part for tomorrow.
- Bring in pictures (drawn or printed) to represent your ACC Act 2 vocabulary words.

- We will have a test on ACC on Tuesday, December 15th. The test will be on the Charles Dickens background information, the play, and Act 2 vocabulary words.
- Study for your quiz tomorrow. The quiz will be on Act I of ACC, Act 1 vocabulary words, point of view, and sentence structure.
- Finish the next five vocabulary four squares for your Act 1 words from ACC.
- Choose five out of the ten vocabulary words from Act 1 of A Christmas Carol and create four square flash cards. The four squares should include the word in the middle, with the definition, the part of speech, a sentence using the word, and picture or symbol to represent the word.
- You will have a quiz on Act I of ACC this Thursday, December 3rd. The quiz will cover the vocabulary words from Act 1, what we read in the play, sentence structure questions, and point of view terms.
- Study for your drama unit test tomorrow. The study guide, Jenga review questions, and all other notes from that unit are posted under the file cabinet.
- If you did not finish the questions for the article we read in class this week and/or the comparison chart of the article and "Monsters," finish it for homework. I will take it up at the beginning of class on Monday. The document is posted under the file cabinet if you need an extra copy of it.
- Bring a picture (printed or drawn) to represent each of your vocabulary words from "Monsters Are Due on Maple Street." Make sure to cut out the pictures individually instead of putting them all on one page.
- Complete the indirect object practice handout. The notes we took in class today are posted under the file cabinet. You should use your notes to help you complete the homework.
- Reading RIOT for Q2 is due on January 5th, 2016. Instructions and rubrics are posted in the file cabinet.

- 4th and 6th period only: "The Lottery" study guide questions will be taken up at the beginning of class tomorrow, so finish them tonight if you did not finish them in class last week.

- Girl classes WILL take the quiz on "The Lottery" tomorrow in class since I will not see you on Thursday because of the field trip. Boy classes WILL NOT take the quiz tomorrow, even though you are not going on the field trip. We will still have the quiz on Thursday as originally planned. The quiz will cover the vocabulary from the short story, the story, and irony.
- "The Lottery" quiz will be this Wednesday for girl classes and Thursday for boy classes. The quiz will be on the vocabulary from the short story, the story, and you terms and definitions for irony that we got in class today.

- Writing 101 papers are due tomorrow. You will turn in your typed paper as well as your outline, rough draft, peer edit, and rubric. Make sure you have everything with you tomorrow.
- Your quiz on "The Lottery" will be this Friday. The quiz will be on the story and the vocabulary words.
- No written homework because we are presenting reading RIOT projects this week, but your typed final draft of your Writing 101 paper is due on Thursday.

- You will have a Writing 101 unit test on all of your notes this Friday, October 9th. Make sure to study a little every night. All notes are posted under the file cabinet.
- Study for your quiz tomorrow. The quiz will be on vocabulary from "Rogue Wave," the story, and your Writing 101 notes. You will need to know the writing process notes and the introduction and thesis statement notes for the quiz tomorrow.

- If you did not finish your introduction paragraph in class today, finish it for homework. You will write it on the lines in your guided notes in your ISN. I have posted the Writing 101 notes, introduction examples that we looked at in class today, and the topic choices under the file cabinet. Make sure that your introduction follows the funnel introduction format and that your thesis statement has three main points included in it.

- Bring in your Reading RIOT tomorrow so you can read after you finish your quiz.
- Choose a reading RIOT book by next Wednesday. The rubric and instructions are posted under the file cabinet. This project is due on Wednesday, October 14th.
- We will have a quiz next Wednesday, September 16th on commonly confused words, capitalization, and apostrophes. Review your notes in your ISN, homework assignments, and practice that we've done in class to prepare for this quiz.
- Study for your test on Hatchet. The study guide questions are posted under the file cabinet it you need another copy. The test will include multiple choice and true/false questions.
- If you did not finish the capitalization/apostrophe practice handout in class today, then finish it for homework tonight. (If you would like an electronic copy of the notes on capitalization and apostrophes, check under the 6th grade file cabinet for a copy of these notes.) Also, make sure to study for you Hatchet test, which is this Thursday. We will play a review game for the test in class tomorrow.
- Hatchet survival project presentations will begin tomorrow. Make sure to bring your rubric to class with you tomorrow. I have posted a copy of it in the file cabinet if you have lost yours.
- Complete the Commonly Confused Words practice handout.
- Introduction letters are due at beginning of class tomorrow. Make sure to double check the rubric and guidelines to make sure that you have everything you need included in your letter. This assignment will count as a quiz grade.
- Bring in your idea (sketch of your object) for the Hatchet project for class tomorrow. If you did not finish it at the end of class today, finish it for homework tonight.
- Introduction letters will be due this Wednesday. We will be working on this assignment in class this week, but if you aren't done by Wednesday, you will finish it for homework on Tuesday night.
- Parent surveys are due tomorrow. This will be your first homework grade.
